Melbourne the most liveable city in the world for 7 years in a row.

Being named the most liveable city in the world for 7 years in a row, Melbourne has a lot to offer from great places to eat to an array of things to do.

What to do?

Shopping – Chadstone, The Fashion Capital

Chadstone shopping centre is a globally recognised fashion and entertainment hub and the largest shopping centre in Australia. Chadstone features over 550 stores, is only located 17km from the city of Melbourne and has recently opened up 'Hotel Chadstone', a boutique luxury hotel found a two-minute walk away from the world-class shopping hub. Featuring 250 rooms, a pool and a library, the South-East Melbourne hotel is the perfect place to stay for a premium-luxury retreat and a shopping oasis.

Nature – The Royal Botanic Gardens

The Royal Botanic Gardens is the perfect place to go if you love nature, fitness or need a relaxing day in the sun. The Gardens, located in inner-city Melbourne, has a running/walk track that is perfect for a morning or afternoon job amongst the trees and enjoying the view of the CBD. The Gardens often have many events running from walking through flora and fauna with your own personal guide, to going on a guided boat tour on the Ornamental Lake. If you just want a simple day in the sun to enjoy the beauty of Melbourne, grab your friends, food and a picnic blanket and find a quiet spot on one of the many grass paddocks to enjoy the day.

Art – The National Gallery of Victoria/International (NGV/NGVI)

The NGV is a mecca for lovers of culture and art. The international gallery located on St. Kilda Rd displays moving exhibitions of world-renowned artists and provide the opportunity to view contemporary and historical works from across the globe. Whether you are a lover of art or not, visiting the National Gallery is the perfect day out for a cultural and enlightening experience.

Where to eat?

Mr Miyagi – 99 Chapel St, Windsor

Located in one of the foodie hubs of Melbourne, Mr Miyagi takes a spin on traditional Japanese food with their food fusion and elaborate cocktails this restaurant is excellent for a night out. Featuring a vibrant space and a great soundtrack, Mr Miyagi is a casual but fancy restaurant, with a cocktail bar 'Yukie's Snack Bar' attached. The restaurant has some of the best Japanese fusion food that you will eat, and the spin that they take on traditional cuisines such as sushi or sashimi will leave you wanting to go back again and again.

The best time to go: Saturday night 6 pm – you are unable to make bookings for groups of six and under and on popular nights like Friday/Saturday night it is essential to get there early or else you may be waiting for up to an hour and a half for a table!

Our recommended drink: Mr. M's Frozé – This is a signature drink at the restaurant and takes a modern and fun twist on a regular glass of Rosé

Our recommended meal: Two of the most discussed and most loved items that are a MUST when going to Mr Miyagi are the Salmon Nori Taco and the Schnitty Bao buns. The Salmon Nori Taco is a contemporary twist on a sushi roll with the taco shell being seaweed and the contents of the taco being rice and salmon. The Schnitty Bao is also a much talked about item on the menu combining the flavours of ramen coated chicken schnitzel with a fluffy bao bun.

Entrecôte – 131-133 Domain Rd, South Yarra

Entrecôte is a contemporary homage to the original Le Relais De L'Entrecote; a Parisian steakhouse that opened in 1959. Located across from the Melbourne Botanic Gardens, Entrecôte is a taste of Paris in Melbourne with the bistro-style décor and the authentic French cuisine. The outdoor seating allows you to look over the city of Melbourne and greenery of the Botanic Gardens. If you are seated indoors, you can enjoy the Parisian ambience that the old fashioned but classy design donates.

The best time to go: Any night of the week is beautiful to go and enjoy the food and atmosphere at the restaurant; however, I recommend going on a Friday night from 4 pm to take a seat outside and watch the sun go down during happy hour (4-6).

Our recommended drink: Lillet Rosé Spritzer – This is a classical French drink with Lillet Rosé served with French sparkling and a lemon, close your eyes while you are drinking it and you'll feel like you're in Paris!

Our recommended meal: Steak Frites – the Signature meal at Entrecôte, the Steak Frites consists of pasture-fed Angus porterhouse, fries, Maison au beurre et aux herbs sauce and a Dijon soft leaf salad. You are paying for quality with this meal, and I can say this was some of the tastiest meat I have ever had…. and the unlimited fries weren't so bad either!

Baby Pizza – 631-633 Church St, Richmond

Baby Pizza is the place to go if you want authentic Italian food and a trendy vibe. Baby sports fun and flavoursome cuisine with a laidback setting and neighbourhood feel. If you're looking for traditional woodfire pizzas, and home-made pasta all using fresh ingredients, this is the place to go, especially now that summer is here. Baby has a beautiful outdoor alfresco area where you can enjoy the food and drinks in the sun.

Best time to go: The casual vibe of Baby means it's the perfect place to go on any night, lunch or dinner – however with the new happy hour summer deal Baby on a Friday night is the place to be!

Our recommended drink: Aperol Spritz – A classic Italian drink, sit outside and sip a perfectly made Aperol.

Our recommended meal: San Daniele Pizza – Authentic Italian woodfire pizza topped with fresh San Daniele D.O.P prosciutto, this pizza is fresh, simple and tasty.
